It was fate that brought about the vision for Blackberry Hills. We were blessed with this haven atop the serene hills in a stroke of good fortune—some would call it destiny. However, it didn’t start off as a haven—the land was initially stripped of its organic properties due to over-farming and neglect. Invasive species of animals, flora and fauna littered the surrounding ecosystem, leaving it isolated as a barren perch overlooking the valley.
With time, restoring the property became an avid endeavour. We were determined to return this arid land back to its former glory using modern and sustainable agricultural methodologies. We dedicated countless hours into rehabilitating this small ecosystem, replenishing the soil and toiling day-in and day-out to return it to its former fertile state.
Slowly but surely, the ground began to sprout with rich and organic life. Carried on the mystic breezes of Munnar, the animals and plants returned to our humble habitat.
We began to see life take hold around the property—but we still had miles to go. Almost 30% of the land on the property is still under active restoration to bring back that natural aesthetic that can only be found in the serene ambience of Munnar.
We wanted to share the magic we discovered with minds looking to explore these natural wilds. Thus, we birthed the idea of sustainable and responsible tourism that would bring fresh ideals into our humble haven atop the hills—and Blackberry Hills Resort was born.
Our nature resort in Munnar is a byproduct borne from our desire to conserve and rejuvenate the barren land on which it was built. Now a thriving biome, the land is rich and fertile, hosting a myriad of animal species, flora and fauna that are indigenous to the area.
