Silver Award: International Centre for Responsible Tourism

We have received a silver award from the International Centre for Responsible Tourism for our extensive efforts to implement sustainable economic practices. Blackberry Hills won the award in the `Increasing Tourism’s Contribution to Natural Heritage and Biodiversity’ category.

Our unique location in Pothamed has situated us on the fringe of a teeming and diverse environment. As a birdwatching hub, our region is home to a large variety of bird species—and we take great care to protect and conserve each one. Our premises are also abundant in populations of Malabar Giant Squirrel and the Malabar Whistling Thrush.

Responsible Tourism requires that operators, hoteliers, governments, local people and tourists take responsibility, and also take action to make tourism more sustainable. It’s environment-friendly, people-friendly, and culture-friendly.

With the biodiversity that surrounds us, we have dedicated our efforts into ensuring that each species of animal, bird, flora, and fauna is treated with respect and allowed to thrive. We accept responsibility for our environment, so our SOPs are designed with nature and conservation as a core tenet.
